Erika Nurmi, MD, PhD is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, specializing in anxiety/OCD spectrum disorders. As Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA, she directs medical training and research. Clinically, she is Medical Director of Compass Therapy and Community West intensive treatment programs, where she also directs the Anxiety/OCD Programs. Dr. Nurmi works closely with the Tourette Association of America, serving on their Medical Advisory Board, participating in the UCLA TAA Center of Excellence, and providing outreach throughout California. Her research includes genetics work with the OCD/TS Psychiatric Genomics Consortium and clinical trials in tic disorders. Dr. Nurmi is a recognized AACAP Master Clinician with numerous teaching awards and an international speaker in educational forums, clinician trainings, parent/patient support groups and public events, where she enjoys sharing her passion for science and medicine. Her most recent interest is leveraging AI to enhance her research, teaching, and clinical practice.
