Alan Peterson is a Professor and the Chief of the Division of Behavioral Medicine in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is also the Director of the South Texas Research Organizational Network Guiding Studies on Trauma and Resilience (STRONG STAR). STRONG STAR includes over 150 research collaborators and 50 institutions worldwide. Over the past 18 years, STRONG STAR investigators have secured more than $250 million in research funding to support over 120 projects. Dr. Peterson has conducted research on Tourette Syndrome over the past 40 years supported by the Tourette Syndrome Association, National Institutes of Health, and Center for Disease Control. He also has clinical and research expertise in the areas of behavioral medicine, psychological trauma, and resiliency. He has published 9 books, more than 400 scientific manuscripts, and given over 700 presentations and invited addresses at national and international meetings.
